When Audry Ellingson retired from the military, she chose to stay in San Antonio and started volunteering because she enjoys giving back to Military City, USA and sharing the spirit of San Antonio with visitors. Her favorite event is the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon, which was was also her first volunteering experience with San Antonio Sports, . “I like the enthusiasm of those involved with the marathon, including San Antonio Sports, the runners and all the volunteers who have been involved since the beginning.
The most memorable thing that happened while volunteering occurred during the 2018 NCAA® Men’s Final Four®. “I met the niece of a woman who graduated from high school with me in Minnesota — in a class of 93 people! It really is a small world and you never know who you’ll meet if you take the time to talk with people.”
