Representatives with the San Antonio Marathon have revealed the official courses for its inaugural half marathon and marathon. Set for December 7, 2025, both races will start and finish at Hemisfair, located in the heart of downtown San Antonio, and will take runners on an unforgettable journey through some of the city’s most historic and iconic landmarks. The completely new course will be USATF certified and a Boston qualifier. Course maps can be found at SanAntonioMarathon.com. The San Antonio Marathon is owned and operated by the nonprofit San Antonio Sports, in partnership with the City of San Antonio, Centro and national partner, The Trust Group.
Marathon weekend will kick off with a Friday night 5K on December 5, bringing together thousands of participants and spectators for an unforgettable experience in one of Texas’ most dynamic cities. Details for the 5K will be shared at a later date.
With the theme “Every Step Tells a Story,” the marathon and half marathon routes will showcase the city’s diverse culture, iconic landmarks and vibrant neighborhoods. Runners will pass through landmarks such as Brackenridge Park, JBSA Fort Sam Houston, the Alamo and scenic neighborhoods like King William, Monte Vista, Olmos Park and Alamo Heights.
In true storytelling fashion, the marathon will feature themed miles, each highlighting a unique aspect of San Antonio’s rich heritage. Runners and spectators alike can expect a memorable and immersive experience as they navigate the city’s most beloved landmarks.
The San Antonio Marathon is more than just a race—it’s a community event. Residents and visitors are invited to take part through volunteering or cheering on runners along the course.
“We are incredibly excited to unveil the marathon and half-marathon courses for the inaugural San Antonio Marathon,” said Jenny Carnes, President and CEO of San Antonio Sports. “The courses have been carefully designed to create a memorable experience while highlighting the unique beauty and history of San Antonio. We look forward to welcoming participants and spectators from near and far.”
