It was a great day of play! After a five week unit of volleyball, athletes in San Antonio Sports i play afterschool program participated in a program-wide tournament held at Mission Concepción Sports Park. Congratulations to Briscoe Elementary who won the Valero Energy Foundation Cup. Bellaire Elementary came in second and Wilson Elementary was third.
San Antonio Sports i play! afterschool program provides skill-based instruction in five sports, while building confidence and self-esteem and teaching the importance of healthy habits, self-discipline, social skills, teamwork and sportsmanship. Fourty-eight elementary schools in Harlandale and San Antonio Independent School Districts participate in the program which is offered to 1,200 kids in third through fifth grade. Next up, basketball!
