More than 300 of the Nation’s Fastest Swimmers to Compete in San Antonio

TYR Pro Swim Series - San Antonio, TX 2022

Competition to host Olympians, world-record holders and more

More than 300 athletes are set to compete at the 2022 TYR Pro Swim Series San Antonio, which will take place March 30-April 2 at the Northside Swim Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Highlighting the field are 21 members of last summer’s U.S. Olympic Swim team, including 2020 Olympic medalists Katie Ledecky (Bethesda, Md./Nation’s Capital/Gator Swim Club), Caeleb Dressel (Green Cove Springs, Fla./Gator Swim Club), Claire Curzan (Cary, N.C./TAC Titans), Michael Andrew (Encinitas, Calif./MA Swim Academy) and more. These 21 athletes combined for 29 medals during their time in Tokyo.

Multiple U.S. National Team members will be competing in their home state at the meet, as Natalie Hinds (Midland, Texas/Gator Swim Club), Shaine Casas (McAllen, Texas/Longhorn Aquatics) and Lindsay Looney (Denison, Texas/Sun Devil Swimming/Metroplex Aquatics) are all slated for multiple events at the competition. Fourteen current Texas A&M swimmers, eight Texas Christian University and nine University of Texas student athletes will also make appearances.

The San Antonio site is the second of three stops on the 2022 TYR Pro Swim Series calendar and a qualifying meet for April’s Phillips 66 International Team Trials, which will serve as a selection meet to qualify U.S. teams for the 2022 FINA World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, and the Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Hawaii. The series last stopped in San Antonio in March 2021. Tickets for this year’s event can be purchased at https://nisd.net/athletics/aquatics/tickets.

Prize money has been reinstated for podium finishers this year, seeing the first-place finisher receive $1,500 while the second and third-place finishers will receive $1,000 and $500 each, respectively.
