Northside Gym Site of San Antonio Sports All-Star Games
(October 15, 2026 – San Antonio) San Antonio Sports announced coaches for the 2027 San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Games presented by Valero set for Saturday, April 10 at Northside Gym. Game day will showcase over 120 of the top local high school seniors in a competition between Team Blue vs. Team White in two divisions that include public and private schools: 1A –5A and 6A. Each session will include a girls’ and boys’ game. A three-point contest will take place between the afternoon and evening sessions. Games will be broadcast and streaming on KSAT12 and KSATPlus. Tickets for all sessions will go on sale in early February.
Winning coaches from the 2026 games will return, along with six additional coaches. Returning coaches Ernest Lopez, McCollum and Lonny Hubbard, Steele will be joined by girls’ head coaches Clarissa Torres, MacArthur; Jennifer Brewer, Brandeis; and Kelli Goble, Sotomayor. The new boys’ head coaches include Chaun Brooks, John Jay; Steve Perez, Veterans Memorial; and James Rabon, East Central.
High school coaches can nominate up to two players for 1A-5A, three players for 6A games, and one player for the three-point contest. A selection committee comprised of sports media, scouts and former coaches will select the teams in mid-January. After the committee selects a pool of thirty (30) all-stars for each game, each head coach will go head-to-head in a draft to select the roster of players to fit their style of play. Only players from an all-star coach’s high school will be automatic locks for his or her own team.
Fifty-six (56) athletes who were in the 2026 All-Star Games are playing collegiate basketball, and eight were offered scholarships from coaches who attended the games. One hundred-eleven (111) were named all-district. Heading into the fourth year of the game, we’ve seen impressive talent emerge. The 2025 All-Star Basketball Game featured Kingston Flemings, the first player from the All-Star Game to be selected in an NBA Draft. As a standout at Brennan High School, Flemings went on to start for the University of Houston, helping lead the Cougars to the Sweet Sixteen. He then declared for the 2026 NBA Draft and was selected eighth overall by the Atlanta Hawks.
“Each year, the level of talent and competition in these games continues to grow,” said Jenny Carnes, president and CEO of San Antonio Sports. “We’re excited to see what this year’s seniors bring to the court and proud to have Valero’s continued support as we celebrate some of the area’s best high school basketball players.”
San Antonio loves basketball and has hosted the UIL State Basketball Tournaments since 2015. Game day will bring the best area players together for one final game in the Alamo City.
