Build a Legacy
San Antonio Sports (SAS) offers internships to students interested in learning the inner workings of a sports oriented non-profit organization. SAS staff members work directly with interns to provide a beneficial and enlightening real-world experience. Internships are available in the following areas: finance, event management, sponsorships, marketing, communications, videography and youth programs.
Internship Requirements
Applicants must be available to work a minimum of 15 hours per week, Monday – Friday between the hours of 9:00 am – 5:00 pm, at the SAS offices in San Antonio, Texas. They must also be available to work at San Antonio Sports events, many of which occur on weekends and evenings, as directed by their immediate supervisors. Applicants must be able to provide their own housing and transportation.
HOW TO APPLY
Interested applicants can submit a resume and cover letter to our intern coordinator, Deirdre Murphy (dmurphy@sanantoniosports.org). Interviews will be scheduled with appropriate applicants.
Undergraduate and graduate-level students are encouraged to apply. Preference is given to students who are seeking internships for school credit.
Internship Positions
2025 Spring Events Internship Intern experiences include preparation for events, venue setup, operations and logistical planning, working with volunteers, and event execution. Fall semester opportunities offer a unique opportunity to assist with the creation and organization of an event, along with hands-on execution of smaller events. Spring opportunities focus more on major event execution, with hands-on experience for larger productions.
Marketing Internship Interns will assist staff efforts to build the San Antonio Sports brand and awareness. Responsibilities include strategic and grassroots marketing efforts such as writing and distributing marketing materials, developing marketing pieces, campaign development and communicating with SAS partners.
Public Relations interns will assist with media communications, social media strategy and implementation, press relations surrounding special events, compiling press kits and a variety of other PR tasks.
Finance interns will assist the finance department with monetary aspects of the organization including assisting with accounts receivable and accounts payable; data entry; filing (checks, invoices, journal entries etc.); assisting with audits; assisting with month-end and year-end financial reports; posting journal entries; and special projects . Students should be working towards finance, accounting, or a related degree.
2025 Spring Youth Programs Internship Interns will assist with program logistics/operations and strategic projects related to SAS youth programs and events. Interns will help manage day-to-day program operations including creating program materials, managing sports equipment, and event planning and execution. Youth programs intern will periodically interact with program partners, parents and children. Youth Program interns will gain valuable experience in programming, event planning, youth sports, and community health.
