San Antonio Sports announced coaches for the 2025 San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Game presented by Valero set for Sunday, March 23 at Northside Sports Gym. Game day will showcase 120 top local high school seniors in a competition of Team Black vs. Team Gold in two divisions that include public and private schools: 1A –5A and 6A. Each session will include a girls’ and boys’ game. An all-star skills challenge and three-point contest will take place between the afternoon and evening sessions. Games will be broadcast on KSAT 12. Tickets will go on sale in late January.
Winning coaches from the 2024 games will return, along with four additional coaches. Returning coaches include Rudy Bernal, Antonian Preparatory High School; Dakota Cowgill, Brennan High School; Christina Camacho, Judson High School; and Amy Ruede, Boerne High School. They will be joined by Jaclyn Contreras, Brennan High School; Annissa Jackson, Wagner High School; Andrew Brewer, Alamo Heights High School; and Art Vela, Jefferson High School.
High school coaches can nominate up to two players for 1A-5A and three players for 6A games and one player each for the skills challenge and three-point contest. A selection committee comprised of sports media, scouts and former coaches will select the teams in mid-January.
Sixty-five (65) athletes who were in the 2024 All-Star Games are playing collegiate basketball, and eight were offered scholarships from coaches who attended the games. One hundred-two (102) were named all-district.
“Last year’s games were high-level and competitive,” said Jenny Carnes, President and CEO of San Antonio Sports. “We’re excited to see what this year’s seniors bring and are thrilled that Valero is supporting this event that closes the high school basketball season for many of the best players in the area.”
San Antonio loves basketball and has hosted the UIL State Basketball Tournaments since 2015. Game day will bring the best area players together for one final game in the Alamo City.
