San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Nominations
Nominations for the Class of 2027 Now Closed
The San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame is a partnership between San Antonio Sports, San Antonio Express-News and the City of San Antonio. It was founded in 1995 and recognizes those who have made an impact in the world of sports, either through outstanding athletic achievements or outstanding contributions to athletic programs, and have ties to San Antonio.
Nominees must have lived in the greater San Antonio area and have made an impact in their sport, either by competing at the highest possible level or by helping others to do so.
If the nominee is not a greater San Antonio native, his or her primary athletic fame must have come while living in the area. Those still actively participating in their sport are not eligible for consideration. It is not necessary to re-nominate people already on the list below.
Some nominees from past years have been removed from the list because they did not receive the minimum number of votes and will not be eligible for consideration for three years.
The nomination period has concluded. The selection committee will now choose the top five candidates in various categories. The committee’s recommendations are then sent to the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame board of directors for final approval.
The Class of 2027 will be announced in early 2027 and the formal induction ceremony will take place in August or September (date to be determined by class announcement). Plaques of San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame members are on display at the Alamodome.
The Hall of Fame Voting Panel will now submit their votes for the respective year’s induction class. After the inductees are selected by the Selection Committee, there will be a final review of all nominees’ total voting points received and any nominee who fails to receive 15 points in the selection process will be removed from the ballot. Such persons will again be eligible for nomination after three (3) selection processes/years. As stated those individuals who become eligible for consideration as a nominee after three years must be formally nominated again before returning to the ballot.
