Volunteer Spotlight: Emily Lew

It was after 9 p.m. and the last banners were being taken down and rolled at Heroes Stadium after the Alpha Warrior Team Tough Challenge. Volunteer Emily Lew, who had arrived for her shift at 11 a.m. (after helping set up the day before) was there helping roll them, along with San Antonio Sports staff.

Emily is one of San Antonio Sports’ key volunteers. She has helped with the NCAA® Men’s Final Four®, Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon, UTSA Football games and San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame, to name a few. But when asked if she had a favorite event, she chose the UIL Basketball Championships where she served as a team host. “As a team host, I got to see what a team does once they got off the bus until it was time to leave,” she recounts. “Plus, what an opportunity to watch a game from court-side!”

Emily has been a volunteer for years. She continues to volunteer because she supports the mission and vision of San Antonio Sports and “I enjoy witnessing teamwork and encouragement of all the competitors.” She likes being “behind the scenes” and also shares her time and energy with Arts San Antonio, the Tobin Center, and the Texas Folklife Festival among others. We’re glad she includes us!
