The Stars Shine Brighter

In 2016, for the first time since its inception in 1995, the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Tribute was held outside of the Alamodome. Since its beginning, the tribute had been held on the floor of the Alamodome. When the newly renovated Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center was opened, however, an opportunity opened up for the Hall of Fame Tribute to become even better.

Now held in the Stars at Night Ballroom in the Convention Center, the black-tie ceremony for the hall of fame classes has been able to add new features, such as live entertainment. In the first year of the new venue, The Fab Four, a Beatle tribute band performed for the night’s attendees.

The Hall of Fame Class of 2016 included NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal and his 36-0 1989 Cole High School basketball team, San Antonio Sports founder George Block and Olympic gold medalist Darold Williamson.

In the fall of this year, the Hall of Fame Class of 2025 will be announced, and preparations will begin for another unforgettable night under the lights of the Stars at Night Ballroom.
