The San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame
has announced its class of 2026, honoring a distinguished group who have shaped the city’s sports legacy: UTSA’s first head football coach Larry Coker, two-time Olympic swimming medalist James Feigen, UTSA standout quarterback Frank Harris, UTSA eight-time All-American in track & field Tameka Roberts-Nuñez, and the 1971 Texas 4A state football champions from Robert E. Lee High School.
The class will be inducted on Saturday, August 29, in the Stars at Night Ballroom at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
Class of 2026 Inductee Bios:
Larry Coker was hired by the University of Texas at San Antonio in 2009 to build its new Roadrunners football program from scratch. He previously won a national championship at the University of Miami in 2001. Following a practice season in 2010, UTSA set an NCAA startup attendance record when 56,743 fans filled the Alamodome on Sept. 3, 2011.
In his second season, he guided the team to an 8–4 record in the WAC. UTSA joined Conference USA in 2013 and finished 7–5. Coker retired in 2016 after compiling 26 wins at UTSA and an overall career record of 86–47 with four bowl appearances.
James Feigen is a highly accomplished swimmer whose career spans elite high school, collegiate and international competition. At Winston Churchill High School, he earned multiple UIL 5A state medals and set national records in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle.
At the University of Texas, he won 18 Big 12 gold medals, 24 NCAA All-American honors and three NCAA championships. As a member of the USA National Team (2009–2016), Feigen won Olympic silver in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay at the 2012 London Games and gold in the same event at the 2016 Rio Games.
Frank Harris is one of the most pivotal figures in UTSA football history, playing seven seasons at quarterback. His career included four winning seasons, two Conference USA championships and four bowl appearances. He was named the 2022 Conference USA MVP and set more than 30 program records.
Tameka Roberts-Nuñez, a Corpus Christi native, was an eight-time All-American at UTSA in the 100-meter, 200-meter and long jump events. She captured 17 Southland Conference titles and earned multiple conference athlete-of-the-year honors. She continues to hold both conference and UTSA school records.
The 1971 Robert E. Lee High School football team, represented by Richard Ojeda, captured the Texas Class 4A state championship by defeating Wichita Falls 28–27 in the first high school football game played at Texas Stadium.
Quarterback Tommy Kramer engineered a dramatic comeback and later became an NFL standout. The team finished 14–0–1, earning the school’s first state championship.
