Sherry Braun (right in photo) first learned of San Antonio Sports in 2018 when watching a local news station’s announcement about the need for Men’s Final Four volunteers. She signed up and has been helping our nonprofit organization ever since.
“I enjoy staying active and involved with the community,” she explains. “This organization gives me the opportunity to give back my time to the city in many ways–from outdoor sporting events to special events like the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame. It also gives me the opportunity to meet and interact with various people within our city.” Sherry has helped at the San Antonio Sports Corporate Cup, Fit Family Challenge big events, i play! afterschool tournaments, Alpha Warrior Team Tough Challenge, Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon and more. She doesn’t have a favorite event, saying each is unique in its own way.
Her most memorable moment while volunteering was being part of the 2019 Fed Cup USA vs. Switzerland tennis match. Volunteers often have the best seat in the house, and she enjoyed getting to watch high caliber tennis.
When asked why she continues to give her time to San Antonio Sports, Sherry shares that every event is always well organized with an “exemplary” line of communication. “Prior to my shift, detailed information is emailed out as a reminder and to eliminate any confusion and uncertainty that might surface. I’ve only encountered positive attitudes from everyone within the organization in addition to strong leadership and teamwork.”
We’re grateful to volunteers like Sherry who spend their free time helping others. If you’d like to join us at an upcoming event, click here to learn about opportunities this spring.
