Volunteer Spotlight: Linda Eaton

A bum knee provided the impetus for Linda Eaton’s first volunteer opportunity with San Antonio Sports. Linda was training for the first Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon when her knee started giving her problems. She still wanted to be part of the event, so she thought, “Why not volunteer?” San Antonio Sports coordinates the volunteers for the marathon and Linda has helped every year in some capacity or another. She has also shared her time helping at the Alpha Warrior Team Tough Challenge, Corporate Cup, i play! afterschool tournaments and more.
“I have always loved volunteering; I love meeting new people and I like most sports – so it really it’s a no-brainer for me.”
Unsurprisingly, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon is her favorite event. “There are so many volunteers who are needed to help the thousands of runners who come to this great city (and event) from all across the world. The people you come in contact with are always very appreciative because they know it couldn’t run without the local volunteers. “
“At every event I have volunteered, I have met other wonderful volunteers.” Linda also keeps helping “because of the incredible San Antonio Sports staff; especially Tony Benke…who has ALWAYS been approachable and answered my many questions over the years with patience and grace!”
Linda hopes to return to volunteering again “and would love to see a lot more options throughout the years.” We too, Linda!
