Cyclist will attend inaugural L’Étape San Antonio by Tour de France during Fiesta FitFest
One of the most decorated former professional cyclists in recent history, Alberto Contador, is coming to San Antonio, Texas, for the first-ever L’Étape San Antonio by Tour de France presented by H-E-B. Contador is set to be the official Tour de France Ambassador at this new, mass participation cycling event, taking place on April 10, the final day of San Antonio Sports Fiesta FitFest, an official Fiesta event April 8-10 at UTSA.
The Spanish cyclist, two-time Tour de France and Giro d’Italia winner, and three-time Vuelta a España winner will be part of the entire L’Étape San Antonio weekend. Contador will offer insights into his most competitive races at the Champions Dinner and will be available for meet and greets. He will also take part in the main race on Sunday.

Fiesta FitFest presented by H-E-B kicks off on Fiesta Friday, April 8 with the Alpha Warrior Challenge presented by Ancira. Fiesta FitFest 5K & 10K presented by Michelob Ultra will take place Saturday, April 9, along with the L’Étape San Antonio kids’ ride, live music, group exercise classes and celebrity appearances from American Ninja Warriors, Tour de France champions and others on the Thomas J. Henry Center Stage. Interactive exhibits, health and wellness activities, food and cycling clinics will take place throughout the University Health Athletes’ Village and Expo. The Battle of Fiesta will also determine San Antonio’s fittest during the Alpha Warrior Challenge.
L’Étape San Antonio by Tour de France presented by H-E-B will take place on Sunday, April 10 and is the only Tour de France-branded event in the United States next year. The course will begin at UTSA and head into the Hill Country towards Bandera. Distances of 100, 60, 25 miles and a family tour will take place.
