High school coaches had the opportunity to nominate up to two players for the game and one player each for the skills challenge and three-point contest. A selection committee comprised of sports media, scouts and former coaches selected teams. Similar to the San Antonio Sports All-Star Football Game, area teams were divided equally among Team Black and Team Gold based on their program’s past four-year winning percentage.
San Antonio Sports All-Star Basketball Championship trophies for the winning teams will be named in honor of four notable coaches:
Boys 5A-6A: Rudy Bernal
Boys 4A-1A & Private: Stan Bonewitz
Girls 5A-6A: Triva Corrales
Girls 4A-1A & Private: Christina Camacho
San Antonio is known for its love of basketball and has hosted the UIL State Basketball Tournaments since 2015. Game day will bring the best area players together for one final game in the Alamo City.
