What’s Involved?
San Antonio Sports and Valero encourage high school and middle school athletic teams to model the values and principles of going Beyond the Game. Hall of Fame Coach Grant Teaff’s book, A Coach’s Influence – Beyond the Game, inspires coaches to positively influence their athletes to model key values and serve others. Valero’s culture is rooted in values that include teamwork, excellence, doing the right thing and caring.
Teachers, coaches, school administrators and the community are invited to nominate middle and high school teams who have demonstrated the key values of INTEGRITY, RESPECT, TEAMWORK, EXCELLENCE and COMMUNITY SERVICE.
Entries will be accepted throughout the remainder of the 2022-23 school year. Stories selected will be shared at halftime of CW 35 TNL broadcasts as well as News 4 Sports Sunday and KABB Maximum Sports, and through San Antonio Sports social media outlets.
Beyond the Game Recognizes Individuals
Do you know a middle or high school student who demonstrates Beyond the Game values? San Antonio Sports and Valero’s program recognizing teams is expanding to highlight individuals. Nominations will be accepted throughout the remainder of the school year. Individuals selected will receive a special letterman patch and certificate.
