Top coaches share their experiences to tip off the 2021 NCAA® Women’s Final Four® in San Antonio
Basketball fans are invited to watch Beyond the Baseline, a virtual event featuring collegiate women’s basketball head coaches Kim Mulkey (Baylor), Gary Blair (Texas A&M University, College Station), Vic Schaefer (University of Texas at Austin) and legendary retired coaches Jody Conradt (UT) and Marsha Sharp (Texas Tech) on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 12 noon CDT. The panel is moderated by Aditi Kinkhabwala, national correspondent, NFL Network, and former San Antonio Express-News reporter. Panelists will share their experiences as Women’s Final Four coaches, provide insights on what the “Power of Sport” means to them, and discuss how they’ve built a championship culture.
There are two ways to watch: register for a link at wffsanantonio.com or on San Antonio Sports social media channels (Facebook: @sanantonosports.org; Twitter: @SA_Sports; Instagram: @SA_Sports84).
There is no charge to view the event, but donations are being accepted to support the Beyond the Baseline campaign, which will deliver special Final Four programming for Girl Scouts of Southwest Texas. Funds raised will provide a special badge program and send 5,000 Girl Scouts to the games, exposing them to the power of women in sport. The fundraising effort will also underwrite Women’s Final Four tickets for other youth groups and military men and women stationed in San Antonio.
While we don’t know what next year will look like, the San Antonio Local Organizing Committee’s commitment to the NCAA and the Girl Scouts is to host the best Women’s Final Four possible in 2021, while providing opportunities beyond the games. Just $10 sends one girl to the game.
The virtual event is produced by Japhet Media LLC in conjunction with Markey’s Rental and Staging.
The University of the Incarnate Word, University of Texas at San Antonio and San Antonio Sports will host the Women’s Final Four on April 2 and 4, 2021 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.
The City and Alamodome will be hosting the marquee women’s sporting event for the third time after previously hosting in 2002 and 2010. San Antonio set the all-time NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball Championship attendance record of 29,619 for the national semifinals and championship games in 2002.
