The eighth annual Fit Family Challenge presented by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Texas is underway. Now through Aug. 12, free weekly fitness activities and frequent health screenings are scheduled at eight sites to help participants get fit and track their progress. The program is open to all families in Bexar County, however, it targets neighborhoods that have the highest rates of diabetes and obesity. In an effort to eliminate barriers to participation, the weekly events take place at schools and churches in the target neighborhoods. New this year, Antioch Baptist Church joins Baptist Temple Church, Rayburn Elementary, Rogers Elementary, Dwight, Anson Jones and McAuliffe Middle Schools, and A.C.E.S. Early College High School as weekly sites. Families may join at any time. Visit FitFamilyChallenge.com for dates and class times.
