San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Tribute
The San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame honors those who have made an impact in the world of sports and have ties to San Antonio. The class of 2023 includes USA Track & Field Olympic Coach Rose Monday, former UTSA & NBA guard Devin Brown, four-time NCAA DI national tennis champion and Trinity University tennis coach Emilie Foster, former Churchill High School volleyball coach Wanda Bingham and professional golfer Jimmy Walker They will be inducted at the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Tribute presented by H-E-B on Saturday, May 13, 2023 in the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center.
The San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame Tribute traditionally attracts more than 1,000 attendees, rolls out more than $500,000 worth of auction items, and serves as San Antonio Sports’ largest annual fundraiser. Proceeds from the Tribute benefit San Antonio Sports’ kids programs.

DEVIN BROWN
Devin is one of two University of Texas at San Antonio players to have appeared in an NBA game and the only Roadrunner to have been on the San Antonio Spurs roster. Brown spent eight seasons in the NBA. Raised in San Antonio, he graduated from South San Antonio West Campus High School. He is the third leading scorer in UTSA history, with 1,922 career points. Brown was Southland Conference Freshman of the Year and three-time first team All-Southland Conference player from 1998-2002. Brown led UTSA to its second NCAA tournament appearance during his freshman season, and he is the first Roadrunner to have his number retired by UTSA.
EMILIE BURRER FOSTER
Emilie is the only Trinity University tennis player to win four national championships. Foster was the National Collegiate Women’s Singles Champion and Doubles Champion in 1968 and 1969. After a pro career, she returned to coach the Division I Trinity Women’s Tennis team from 1979-1990, leading the Tigers to a 259-94 record. During her tenure, she coached the women’s tennis team to the NCAA Division I finals twice, third in the nation three times, and top five finishes three times. She was the NCAA DI Coach of the Year in tennis in 1983 and coached 12 NCAA DI tennis All-Americans and one NCAA DI national champion doubles team.
ROSE MONDAY
Rose is a highly decorated track athlete and coach. Ranked as one of the top 10 fastest women in the 1980s for the 800m and 1,500m, she qualified for the Olympic Trials in 1984, 1988 and 1992. Monday moved to San Antonio in 2000 to become the University of Texas at San Antonio’s cross country and middle distance coach, revitalizing the distance program. In 2007, she transitioned to training post-collegiate athletes privately. USA Track & Field selected her as the middle and distance coach for the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, and Team USA track & field head coach for the Tokyo Olympic Games in 2020.
WANDA BINGHAM
Wanda was the head volleyball coach at Churchill High School from 1973-1995. She guided the Chargers to two state championships (1978, 1985) and a 605-148 record in 22 seasons. Under her guidance, Churchill won 69 straight matches between 1984-86, the second-longest streak in state history. Bingham coached teams that were state runner-up in 1975 and 1981 and state semi-finalists in 1982 and 1988, and regional finalists in 1986, 1993 and 1994. Bingham was named Nemo Herrera Coach of the Year in 1982 and 1983.
JIMMY WALKER
Jimmy had a golfing career that includes a major championship and two Ryder Cup teams. The San Antonio resident who graduated from Canyon High School and Baylor University, had 178 starts on the PGA Tour before winning the season opener at CordeValle in 2013. In 2014, he won three tournaments, was in the top 10 at the Masters, U.S. Open and PGA Championship, earning him a spot on the Ryder Cup team. In 2015, Walker defended his Sony Open title and won the Valero Texas Open. At the 2016 PGA Championship at Baltusrol Golf Club, Walker captured his first major championship. He was also a member of the winning 2016 Ryder Cup team.
