Volunteer Spotlight: Elizabeth Saucedo & Family

Elizabeth Saucedo first learned of San Antonio Sports while volunteering at the Joint Base San Antonio Air Show in 2017. “There was a booth advertising for the NCAA Final Four,” she recalls. “It was exciting just thinking about being part of an event that huge. I had to sign up.”

She and her husband are both retired military and know the personal and community benefits of volunteering. “San Antonio Sports has given us the ability of sharing that with our children. We have enjoyed seeing them realize how easy it is to make a difference in people’s lives while doing something fun for themselves.”

She and her family have volunteered for the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Antonio Marathon, which was a new experience for them as former participants. They also volunteer at UTSA football games. “My daughter takes classes at UTSA as part of a dual credit program with her high school. I wanted her and my son to see part of the fun side of college.”

Their favorite event for volunteering was the UTSA vs Army game. “The good-natured competitiveness of the crowd, and seeing old friends of my husband made for an interesting time. I believe my children enjoyed all the football games. Seeing students and families coming together to support their team was amazing.” Her children especially liked seeing other UTSA athletes supporting the football team. “I wish I had a picture to share of when they met the basketball team. My children are very tall, but the team towered over them. They were in awe.”

Elizabeth uses the volunteer portal to find events for her family. “We look forward to being able to volunteer again soon.” And we look forward to seeing them again soon!
