Thousands of elementary students are taking the challenge to be active every day, drink water and eat their fruits and vegetables as part of the University Health Go!Kids Challenge powered by San Antonio Sports. More than 50,000 students in 149 San Antonio-area schools will participate in a fun program designed to motivate elementary students to be physically active and make water their primary drink of choice. This is the 18th anniversary of Go!Kids Challenge. The goal of the six-week program, which takes place Jan. 18 through Feb. 26, is to educate children about the importance of routine exercise and proper nutrition. New this year is the inclusion of the SUBWAY KiDS Fun Run.
University Health Go!Kids Challenge can also be done online by students who aren’t attending school in-person. Register students at SanAntonioSports.org by Jan. 23.
Participants track their activity and healthy eating on a special log or online. If they do five fitness activities every week for six weeks and return their logs, they will earn a voucher for two complimentary tickets to San Antonio Zoo. Activities include playing sports, playing outside, the 12-mile SUBWAY KiDS Fun Run, walking and push-ups.
